Exploring Our World

The Social Studies class in the Exploratory Program at Lincoln encompasses topics that are not extensively covered by the Humanities curricula. Each grade level studies topics aimed at answering different questions about the world and its people.

6th Grade covers topics in basic Geography. The fundamentals of the study of the Earth, its landforms, and its people are researched. Each 6th grade trimester spends 2 weeks integrated with the Art and Music classes. These 2 weeks focus on an indigenous population and the influence of the natural resources of the area's art, music, and culture. Seventh Grade prepares to fulfill the state required U.S. and Illinois Constitution tests.  In studying the way American and Illinois government works, they learn what led up to the current state of the nation and our state. The 8th grade focuses upon the transmission of culture and the impact that diversity has in our community, country, and the world.

All curricula for the Social Studies Exploratory component are based on the Illinois State Standards for learning.
